I've been practicing yoga daily for years now & trained as a teacher, as well as restorative etc, finding I've really had to modify my practice 1. exhaustion/fatigue/temperature 2. avoiding heat generating asanas 3. balance issues.
Wondering if anyone has attended a specific yoga for MS class or could recommend an asana practice or share their experiences of using yoga as a therapy for MS. Thank you.
I like Thi chi better! Yoga sets off muscle spasm really bad with me!
I myself do the THI CHI once a week and it really does work for me.
@A MyMSTeam Member Thank you for your responses. I agree with the heat in yoga - I was on an extra training course last year & I explained to the teacher however they had a very different view & I became so hot, even with sitting it out - as there was no air conditioner, I started being sick.
I've lost a lot of range & strength in my body.
I have a daily practice & wake & climb out of bed so stiff & never have trouble with getting up, lately it is getting harder & harder as I feel fatigued all day.
I found in chaturanga & plank or arm strength asanas, I've really lost a lot of strength.
I had a check up with the OT the other day & on my right side I am 28 & left side 4 - apparently 10 is a score indicating neurological impairment - no wonder I was shaking every time I was doing a full sun salutation & struggling to lower, one side is carrying the weight/balance.
It's more a struggle for my head than my body - me learning not to push past it & this isn't unfit or laziness or non commitment to my practice as some may view - I literally can't make my brain tell my limbs to move in the right way & the whole battle between the head & body makes me so tired, surrendering has never come easy to me - that's usually where I go in yoga - surrender, less attachment, to be in the present.
I've been really down about gaining weight - things are getting tight & I'm just not as active & it really gets me down at times.
Thank you for listening.

This one shows some modifications: https://youtu.be/ugb74n-487E
If you go to YouTube and type in yoga for MS patients in the search bar a ton of vids will pop up. I've never tried them but just might start now that I found them for you :)
@A MyMSTeam Member I'm not doing so good, will write more another time ๐
