Ok so I just got a new cane! My left leg is the weakest. Do I hold the cane with my left hand or in my right hand? Then do I move my weak leg with the cane or opposite of the cane?
According to my PT you can use it as it feels the most comfortable to you. I have chosen to Have the cane in the hand opposite of the weak leg and for the cane to move with the weaker leg. So, for me it is my right leg that is weaker so I use my cane in my left hand projecting it with my right leg.
I hope that helps and good luck, It will take some practice to get used to it.
@A MyMSTeam Member Hold the cane in the hand on your strong side. Take a step with the weak leg and bring the cane forward at the same time. Hope this helps.
Right hand
My left leg is my weakest too. You hold your cane in your right hand.
Yes it is opposite weak leg and arm. Move cane forward with left hand. I prefer to use my right hand, so sometimes I compensate.
