I believe it would be a different diagnosis if there are no lesions - lesions are 1 of the "diagnosis" requirements for MS; lesions can be various sizes (typically smaller though) and in differing places, which explains 'similar' but not 'exact same' symptoms between each person. There are actually a vast number of conditions that present like MS, which is the purpose for so many tests and MRIs. This is my experience and knowledge from my education.
I would ask you doctor/specialist this question.

A spinal tap, MRI, CT scan, blood work, and other tests have to be done to be properly diagnosed.

The diagnosis cant be made without lesions. It is possible for MRI to miss lesions, but even if it did its not likely to miss more then one so that at best would be CIS. If the symptoms are consistent enough it may be worth asking for a follow up MRI after a period of time, especially if new symptoms appear. If two MRI's are negative then the ods its MS are exceptionally low. Medical follow up is key because it does take time to make the diagnosis. Sometimes years. But like others have said, see a neurologist and follow their advice. They will know best. Good luck!

Suggest if can get another Dr & MRI done @A MyMSTeam Member ... don't just have her say no and leave it at that. From others comments can take while get diagnosed.
I dont knpw if was good thing but my 1st MRI of brain showed MS. At time only had leg stop working was numb and felt like dead weight.
Another thought is that Lyme disease hss similar symptoms but no lesions

Brain, yes. My neuro wouldn't do thoracic. I haven't been back cuz I told her off. She said she was done and couldn't help me. Refuses to diagnose me with MS yet other docs have verbally told me it is.
