Members shared a range of personal experiences with Botox for hamstring spasticity, with many finding real relief from tightness and pain when receiving injections every 3 to 4 months. Several members described being able to walk longer, stretch more safely, and move with less stiffness, though most noted the effects wear off after 2 to 3 months and some relied on baclofen as a backup. A recurring theme was the importance of consulting a neurologist or pain specialist before trying Botox, and one member shared a helpful resource on managing spasticity from cando-ms.org.

When I was in such severe pain I saw my Neurologist at The University of PENN
…she recommended that I see a
MS ⚡️P A I N⚡️Specialist, Physiatrist who's focus is relief of Neuro Spasticity
… be it MS related or Stroke or Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida

She recommended we try the Botox injections for a few 3 month cycles

For many people, Botox into such a Large Muscle group can have minimal effect.

For me the simple relief of the
⚡️P A I N⚡️ is enough. Any additional benefit for mobility function is icing on the cake. But sometimes in the last month as the Botox effect wears off, I'll need extra doses of Oral systemic Baclofin. Those extra doses have the Systemic Side Effects and I turn into a 'Glob of Goo'

I've had 5 Cycles of Every 3 Month Injection. The plan was to try it for a year, see how much it would help
(IF at all)

And IF NOT — we'd look into having a Baclofen Pump implanted in my abdomen with a catheter inserted into my Spinal Cord Spinal Fluid space (Intrathecal Space)

This would trickle micro-doses of Baclofen directly into the spinal cord. That would eliminate those Glob of Goo Systemic Side effects. I'm still considering getting the Baclofen Pump.

It does work for me now I am getting it every 3 months instead of every 4.It helps me walk longer also the legs are not as tight.I do exercise but the muscles do tense up.Gives me more energy.Movement of motion is increased for able to stretch and move more.Lasts for me about 2.5-3months.Very excited about that.I see improv in about 1.5 days. That is my experience with Botox.OH by the way;If the Dr. hits the muscle it hurts like...... but it still works. Good luck if you are getting Botox

That's really interesting as my dermatologist said it was high risk while on Gilenya & with MS due to being a bacteria & Gilenya turns off T cells. If it works for pain I'd be interested to know more.

BOTOX FOR MY BUTTOX
┣▇▇▇═──
I get the injections every three months to my Hamstring, Calf & Shin Muscles.
It helps me very much functionally for about 2 months. I'm able to move more and with less stiffness. I still have to think of *MS* as Must Ꮪtretch

Ꮪ³ ⇨ Ꮪtand Ꮪtretch Ꮪtrengthen
is an everyday all day routine.

BOTOX FOR MY BUTTOX ┣▇▇▇═── is what makes the muscles pliable enough so Ꮪtretching Exercises aren't excruciating.

From a Pain Management
standpoint, I T . W O R K S !!

During the third month, the spasticity gradually returns
… but NEVER to the level of excruciating agony that I was having in the Autumn–Winter of 2015–2016.

My Hamstring Spactity had become so bad back then that it was painful to even bear the weight of sitting. The edge of the chair seat felt like it was lined with spikes
...like sitting on a row of tacks 📌📌📌 digging into my thigh
