Gabapentin - What Is It For?!

A MyMSTeam Member asked a question 💭
Harlow, UK

I have been on Gabapentin for a while now but am still confused as to what it is for, yesterday saw the MS nurse and she recommended 700 mg three times a day, up from 600 mg as I described a new symptom, hot feet that feel like they are covered in sweat but they are dry when I touch them! I don't think I am suffering any side-effects.

My doctor prescribed gabapentin for nerve pain. I have a burning pain in the crease of my right arm. The pain radiates and then goes away (sometimes). I've been on gabapentin for a month now. I take it three times a day and honestly I cannot say that it works. The only affect that I feel is it makes me drowsy.
