I've learned to be a lot more careful when behind the wheel now days. Optic neuritis in one of my eyes has left me with a blind spot the size of a car and color blind to the color red (stop lights were a huge issue at first luckily there was no accidents or tickets), I learned to double check everything and then check again because processing the conflicting info i see was somewhat dangerous at first. Also with the high doses of steroid treatments I've developed early cataracts in both eyes and driving at night is pretty tedious.
The other issue i get when driving is the sensory overload, on bad days driving around my home town on roads that I know can be overwhelming. Side roads are my favorite routes now. And I never, ever go out of town by myself, I make sure I have a co-pilot who can help with traffic and directions.

@A MyMSTeam Member fact!! I personally wished I hadn't taken so many things for granted back then. I never viewed myself as one who did until my life made drastic changes due to something I didn't see coming, MS. Already going thru a life lesson on importance of love in prior years, thru the loss of my husband. Always has been important to me, and I drove it into my kids, never part ways without "I love you" being said.... Nothing left unsaid, no regrets! That morning was the example of why, the last words I ever heard from him, "I love you" and 3 hours later chaplain at our door , but also a very important example for my kids, you just never know. Now adults and families, Their expression of love being priority and, the lesson they now teach their own, u just never know. Nothing promised, especially tomorrow so make today the best day YOU can.... sorry for novel, guess I'm having one of THOSE days... just can't be said enough💞

Awe BLESS your heart!!! At the onset of what I NoW know is Multiple Sclerosis I had suffered from optic neuritis. Initially it was just one eye the a few weeks later then I experienced difficulties in my other eye. Talk about SCARED!!!

I drive but not at night if I don’t have to. Day driving is ok. I don’t go far, used to love driving but MS too tired all the time and bright light from sun make my eyes blurr

Oh boy, nonMsers can never understand how lucky they are for just the little things in life that keep the world moving, like driving, relationships, and peace of mind about tomorrows earning abilty is so critical for sustaining life!
