Dieting With MS

A MyMSTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi Folks, Just a little thing really, but has anyone tried loosing weight with their MS ?
Started a Healthy Eating @Diet 8 weeks ago, and did great and lost a Stone, which it great.
But last 3 weeks, not been able to loose a LB, even though staying to plan.
I'm presuming it lack of movement, so not burning up calories.
Has anyone else been able to loose weight since having their MS ? - I'm SPMS but the way xx

Hi Folks - Well since posting this - Just thought I'd let you know that my weight has again started going down. Lost 4LB this week after nothing for the last 3 weeks. So this is through just eating fresh foods, and nothing processed, or fried, with lots of fruit and veg. I don't do exercise, as I have big mobility issues - So just wanted to give hope to those of you out there, that it is possible to do. Love to all and thanks for all your comments - take care xx

Love this...my GP said and I quote "don't lose any more weight" I get it. Falling 29 times in the last 2&1/2 years a little extra padding may be preventing broken bones. I work out 3.5 hours 5 days each week to make my bones strong and keep as much muscle strength as I can. Imagine what a mess I could be if I didn't work at taking care of me.

I lost 100 pounds on the Wahls protocol and have been in remission for 4 years. What we eat matters.

I've lost over 100 pounds.
I was diagnosed with RRMS in 1999. For the last few years I mostly eat a Plant Based diet because I get 22 weeks of fresh vegies from a CSA organic farm. I split the huge box with my friend and it works out to only $11. each per week. Cheap!
Standing at a stove is not my idea of a good time anymore so the Bullet (a blender) slushies are my best friends for a nutritious & easy meal. I have to watch what I eat (junk food, comfort meals) more in the winter but I'm at the gym 5 days each week because my goal is to stand
strong & proud.
This 100+ pounds has stayed off for a few years and writing down everything I eat or drink keeps me honest with myself.
Hope this is helpful.
