So, I know that tingling when bending your neck forward is a common symptom with MS, but what if the sensation is new to me? Recently, when I bend my neck, the tingling radiates halfway down my spine. This doesn’t happen all the time, but it’s happening more often. I was diagnosed about 6 yrs ago, and I’m wondering if it could mean there’s a new plaque, or if it’s just a gradual progression is the disease like fatigue. I’m debating whether to tell my neurologist to add an MRI of my spine when I… read more

The Tingling sensation you're experiencing may well be Lhermittes. which is often associated with Multiple sclerosis It is a sudden, uncomfortable sensation that travels from your neck down to your spine. Lhermittes is often described as feeling like an electrical shock or buzzing sensation. Your doctor might want you to be tested to see if you have a Vitamin B12 deficiency which is sometimes associated with Lhermittes. Regardless since it's a new symptom you need to discuss it with your doctor.

My a neurologist said it's a sign that my MS is active and may be entering a flare up stage. So we watch closely for intensification of symptoms or new ones emerging. This is a sign for me to take it easy, get rest, stay cool and avoid stress (ha)! But I do step up my relaxation techniques like meditation. Seems to help😊

Yes definitely get the neurologist to get you a spinal MRI. I get tingling and burning whenever I bend or stretch my spine. MRI investigations found that I had lesions on the spinal cord.
Don't panic stay calm and please let me know how you get on
All the best..

Sorry. You need to tell your neuro. It seems like it could be a new lesion. Better safe than sorry.

Let your Doctor know because it might be a leasion that is in its building stage and your doctor may be able to stop it with a steroid infusion before your gate gets bad and remitting stops. I remember that sensation when bending neck forward, but I never figured out why it used to do it and not anymore. Maybe it was a smoke signal telling me to ask a MS specialist about it. I got a feeling they have seen it lots of times and can give you peace of mind regarding it. It’s odd that you’re taking tecfidera and this new symptom has appeared, ask your Specialist to verify if your ms still in relapse/remitting stage.
