So I’m probably having my worst relapse yet- numb from the waist down, incontinence sometimes, major stiffness in legs... this is the second relapse ive had in 2.5 months and though i havent gotten in to see my neurologist yet, he has ordered an mri for me. I assumed it would be full body but more recently discovered he only ordered the brain. My last two mris had the least amount of lesions in the brain with many on my stem and lower spinal cord. This doesnt make any sense to me and im… read more
Perhaps you should get a second opinion. If you have a lot of pain and numbness and if you can’t control your bowel movements I would definitely go to emergency and they should be able to take it from there. However if your symptoms are steady what I mean you aren’t getting worse than I would hang on. I know multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease and it is very frustrating but there is nothing to do just try to keep your self cool I know heat effects your nervous system. I luv ya and I know what you must be feeling.🙄🙄🙄
Apology, that was supposed to say RRMS/brain
I have PPMS. Nothing is "usual" in MS however people with RRMS "usually" have most of their lesion in their brin and PPMS'ers have most in the spinal cord.
You definitely have a right to be upset! I just had the worst Neurologist experience of my entire MS life just a few days ago and it's been hard to let it go. Same type of thing.... this doc was looking at my MRI from 2015, thinking it was the one from a month ago. And he never even looked at my MRI from last month. He went straight to suggesting Tysabri for my MS and when I asked if he could explain my current MRI to me, he shook his head and insisted my fate was SPMS if I don't treat with TY ASAP. oh, yeah, and he flat out said he's tired of all his MS patients. (He also told me this in Feb on my first appointment, so I guess he just doesn't like us). He's fired. There's plenty of doctors that will treat you and I like people. Also, my previous AWESOME neuro (when I lived in Michigan) had the protocol of brain and cervical spine MRI with contrast. I am not sure about full body as being a normal protocol or not.
Thanks everyone!
