Maybe I haven't looked deep enough but there has got to be a way. I prefer going grocery shopping or running errands on my own but I don't drive. I have family and friends who don't mind helping but I would like to feel independent. I live in Indiana and have thought about using Über. I don't have the money for that! There has got to be some form of transportation available to the handicapped. Any ideas?

Members shared many creative solutions for getting around independently when family and friends are not always available, with paratransit services being one of the most recommended options since many states offer low-cost rides for people with disabilities. Several members also mentioned checking with local senior centers, Medicaid-covered ride programs, and using free Uber promo codes found through social media to help cut costs. A recurring theme was the relief many felt discovering grocery delivery services as a way to shop at their own pace, along with warm encouragement that asking for help is not an inconvenience.

There's a service in this town that will pick me up at home as long as I give them 24 hours notice to schedule a ride.

I know there are some 'handicap' taxis here that take a wheelchair and I'm still in it, so are there some taxis or other transport that can help you? Contact the MS team in you distract that could tell you what you can do for your transport.
