Members rallied around a question about whether UK hospital visitors with mobility challenges can use wheelchairs inside hospitals, and the community confirmed that most hospitals do have wheelchairs available near the entrance for visitors to borrow. Several members shared helpful resources including the British Red Cross wheelchair loan program, contacting PALS, reaching out to the hospital's League of Friends, and calling the ward directly to explain the situation. A recurring theme was warm encouragement to not let mobility worries prevent visiting a loved one, with many members sharing their own personal experiences navigating hospitals using scooters, borrowed chairs, or walking aids.

Frizzy, I'm a little late with an answer, your local wheelchair services will provide a suitable chair for you, even if you only use it in the hospital to see your dad. Google to find your local Wheelchair Services. Good luck

In US they definitely do. Too high risk for Liability to not let visitors use a Wheelchair.
Hope this helps.
