So I've been laid off of work they closed down my department i now have no insurance haven't seen a dr i did get approved for medi-cal but my insurance b4 kaiser in some weird way medi-cal says im covered by them anywho i took care of that part now waiting for this paper to submit ... For short term disability you have to be writtten off by a doctor. They can write you off from 9/1-whatever date and you’ll get paid back the weeks you missed as long as you did not return to work or worked less than your usual hours.
You should qualify for unemployment at this point, but if you’re still disabled you need to stay on disability.
Are you looking to return to work once you find another job or do you feel like you’re at the point that you’re unable to continue working?
@A MyMSTeam Member No a dr does not need to take you off work. I worked until I just couldn't and just stopped working. Then did paperwork for temp disab ins thru my state. Then started the process to get on SSDI.
@A MyMSTeam Member Once you get on SSDI, 18 months later they will automatically put you on Medicare.
Also, contact your state temp disab ins and ask them their advise also. Maybe they can put you back on temp disab.
@A MyMSTeam Member maybe ssi and contact unemployment to ask their advise in this situation. Also, start the process for SSDI.
