I can tell you that your type of ms makes a difference to start with. I was in a wheel chair and slowly went to a walker then cane and now very active. If you have depression you may find yourself eating more or worse foods. I told myself to get off my butt and I workout for 20 minutes a day. I swim 5 or 6 times a week which really helped the weight and is very easy on my body. The meds all have so many side effects which could be one of the problemsbecause i am prescribed hydrocodeine I have to take something to use the restroom. In other words there is no easy answer to your question without all the facts. Sorry that doesn’t help a lot!!
this is a great question! yes, yes and yes!
Though working out has helped the weight, I have always had a tendency to gain weight despite eating healthy and being very active. Interesting to find that others with this disease have experienced the same things.
@A MyMSTeam Member glad it worked for you! I have slowly been converting my medicine cabinet over to the oils. You would think I'd be a total believer by now but I'm still skeptical and pleasantly surprised each time I try them for something new. However, when I think about it, mother nature knows what she's doing....I've seriously gotten the most relief from cannabis and essential oils more than anything else.
If you end up getting more into essential oils, check out Symphony of the Cells. It's a small book ($13 I think) that gives about a dozen or so essential oil applications along the spine (and sometimes feet, and aromatic) for various ailments. There's something for pretty much anything a human could suffer from. I've started doing these "massages" with my MS friends and it really helps us!
The one thing I didn’t want to tell but I will. I have severe PTSD from war. I have been drinking 2-3 rum and cokes since my first war every night. It helps me sleep. Keeps my stomach at ease and working normal. Millions will say that’s bad and all I know is it works. I actually have a neurologist that said if it works then don’t stop
HELLO, HELLO AND HELLO!
Yes, I am finding it difficult to keep my weight at a number I am comfortable with.
Again, I thought I was alone with this issue. I guess I should know by now, I am not ever really alone in that my issues seem to be shared by many.
I have always been a bit underweight, which is where I like to be.
I do exercise, and I also sit around a lot, too. My advancing age, (I'm 65), only adds to this.
Things are changing and I don't like it. There was a small change since I was diagnosed two years ago. It was last year when my symptoms started to interfere with my day to day life I also noticed a change in my body chemistry. I am not on any meds.
Could this be something not having anything to do with my MS?
I guess the adage 'misery loves company' reflects all this to a 'T'.
I guess we all need to be a patient with ourselves as we are anyone else on this forum, right?
