If you have ever experienced optic neuritis, can you describe how your vision was? Blurry, double, no vision at all, pain, etc. One or both eyes? Temporary or permanent?

ON was one of my symptoms that led me to a diagnosis. I also had spinal lesions (which created numbness, reversed feeling to hot and cold and weakness on one side and because of the location also experienced deep itching and limited mobility in my hand on the other side) and brain lesions. I already had an appointment for my neuro for the other things and he first set me up for a spine MRI because he thought it might be a tumor.

The eye stuff started within a week of the other stuff...
It was just one eye for me. At first it looked like it does if you have some gunk in your eye when your first wake up. I wear contacts and didn't really think that much of it.... First I noticed a difference in the vibrancy of colors. My left eye everything looked faded until one day I woke up and the grey smoke was in my central vision. I could still see peripheral but not straight on. I was getting eye pain/headaches behind that eye. I was freaking out and went to an eye doc the day after Memorial Day. He did tons of tests and then hounded my Neuro with his findings. He didn't need to, my neuro is awesome. My MRI was set for Wed that week. Ended up getting another MRI Thurs after my spine findings, for my head and eye orbits and then was diagnosed the next day. I know I am lucky. My doc said he could see lots of lesions in varied states of healing. And I had gone to him for other numbness sensation stuff in the past.

All of my sight came back after 5 days of solumedrol infusions in an outpatient facility though the colors are still a little muted in my left eye.

Good luck!!

Optic neuritis
The visual symptoms that occur in MS may be the result of optic neuritis — inflammation of the optic nerve — or lesions (damaged areas) along the nerve pathways that control eye movements and visual coordination. Optic neuritis may result in blurring or graying of vision, or blindness in one eye. A scotoma or dark spot may occur in the center of the visual field.

Optic neuritis is almost always self-limiting, and affected individuals generally make a good recovery. Studies suggest that treatment with intravenous methylprednisolone, sometimes followed by a tapered course of oral steroids, may be useful.

I’ve had optical neuritis a few times. Before I stated on tysabri I was given a prescription for CBD oil. I took that for two months straight. When I went back to my eye specialist he asked me if I started my ms medication yet. I told him no. He asked if I was taking or doing anything different. I said no.
He told me that my optical nerve is almost back to normal (it was an abnormal shape and in flamed) and the inflammation was gone. I told him I was taking 0.4 cc twice a day for the last two months. I said I know medical doctors are skeptical of cannabis and cbd oils but that was the only thing I did different. He confirmed he’s skeptical because the reasarch isn’t there yet for it but he also said he’s too smart to know that he can’t say it isn’t helping and said to keep it up then. Words of advice to all MS patients .... CBD oil helps to fight inflammation in our brains. I swear by it for many things. I take a 1:1 ratio oil of thc and cbd to sleep food at night. It helps me daily in so many ways! If you can get it try the CBD OIL as you don’t get head high from CBD oil. It’s a miracle oil that seriously helps many of my symptoms. Maybe consider using that to help your symptoms 🧡💜

I was diagnosed with MS cos I had bi-lateral optic neuritis and now, 32 years later, I am having another attack of it with double vision and my left eye is moving in closer to my nose!
