As I have had that also when eyes are open. Also have dark cloudy spots at times.

I have gone through similar when I open my eyes and this is accompanied by an experience of light like an exploding firework....no pain and only momentary ....this repeats if I open and close my eyes rapidly, for a few seconds. This may happen for a few days before going away for months.

I can’t say I’ve had the snapping but the lights drive me crazy.
