Neck and back/shoulder pain is one of my worst symptoms - and likely tied to a cervical spine injury I had skiing as a teenager...total loss of consciousness - as well as my MS. It's pretty horrendous at times. I have found a few things over the years that have really helped me so I'll share those here in case it's helpful. CBD & THC. AMazing. I take CBD every morning and night, and at night add in some THC. The two together at night melt away the pain so I can sleep and wake close to pain free most mornings. Of course pain creeps in again throughout the day, but knowing I can get rid of it at night definitely makes it more tolerable. Lavender buckwheat pillow. Hard as a rock. But the acupuncturist who recommended it to me knew what she was talking about. Once I get it set in the right position it stays all night and keeps me in alignment. Weighted blanket. Yeah, I don't use it as much in summer bc of the heat, but most of the time I use one and it keeps me from rolling around and that's when I was ending up sleeping in whack positions that were making my neck and shoulders worse. Now I have actually gone to bed and woken up in the morning in the same position! That NEVER would have happened before. I do also go to acupuncture every other week. She combs the fascia in my neck, shoulders, and back to work out all the knots. She also does cupping of the larger shoulder muscles. It can be painful but it helps so much! I was doing chiropractic but it became too painful - they suggested a CranialSacral therapist - been doing that since last November and LOVE it! It completely calms my CNS like nothing else (well, except for the THC! but this is a great "natural" high that lasts for hours - and I actually have to adjust my rearview mirror when I leave as I'm a good 2 inches taller at the end of a session!). Of course none of these solutions are covered by insurance for me and that's scary because disability retirement doesn't pay much. Every penny I get goes to taking care of myself! Preaching to the choir, I know - but I think it's important to voice that in case someone in a position of power ever reads it! XX
My neck spasms never go away completely, run down left shoulder as well, lesions in brain stem and c spine to blame, I use heat, icy hot, I find Klonopin helps, tried gabapentin and Baclofen but didn’t notice much change, trying CB D oil edibles now, PT stretching helps, but over stretching just causes more spasms
JerseyJoe99.. wow that sounds like my left shoulder.. Mine happened after I had vertebra surgery. I can't lift it up over my head . they did MRI showed I had 2 tears in rotator cuff. they worked on it in PT but my measurements got worse. I just started Occupational Therapy again on it my left side is very weak. she said that my shoulder was dislocated so now they will be working on that first. I hope your pain continues to get better. she did tell me that nerves were damaged . Best of luck to you. Have a great evening.
I was in a traffic accident in 2006 and was diagnosed with whiplash in right side of neck and shoulder. When my MS is being felt in that area, there is NOTHING that I have found to help ease the discomfort. I rub the area down with CBD gel called "Pain Freeze", take 3-4 Advil and try to get thru it. I guess it does help a little, I'm able to get past it and get on with my day or night.
Anything weird on us Mighty Special people will be an MS. symptom!! 😕
