Insurance will no longer approve Ampyra. Must get the generic version which is surprisingly expensive. So my husband no longer takes that. Is there any other recommendations for oral meds to help with gait
As @A MyMSTeam Member mentioned, because of all of the recent changes with Ampyra and the recently approved generic versions, many of us have found it necessary to purchase 4-AP from a compounding pharmacy.
4-AP is Dalfampridine, the main ingredient in Ampyra, and MS'ers have been using it since before Ampyra was ever approved.
It's not covered by insurance, but still requires a written prescription.
Some of the compounding pharmacies do also offer it in a timed release capsule, you just need to check with a compounding pharmacy in your area.
There is a closed Facebook group for Ampyra and 4-AP that you can join for more information and input.
