I can't tell you how frustrated I am. More than a year after my wife Roxanne was diagnosed with MS, we FINALLY found a med and a routine that is working. She started on Copaxone, it was not effective. She switched to Aubagio this past summer, and for the first time, the side effects and the treatment have been effective. Her latest MRI shows no new lesions and remission.

After finally getting all things settled with our specialty pharmacy to cover the medication, Express Scripts has just… read more

Members rallied around a caregiver asking how to fight back after Express Scripts dropped his wife's effective MS medication, Aubagio, with the top advice being to have her neurologist write a letter advocating for the specific medication, since several members found that a doctor's letter successfully reversed insurance denials. Many community members suggested contacting the Aubagio manufacturer directly, as drug companies often have patient assistance programs that can help cover costs when insurance won't. A recurring theme was encouragement to keep pushing, with members sharing their own experiences navigating specialty pharmacy challenges and reminding the caregiver that finding a medication that works is worth fighting for.

Hang in there for starters. Call her MS doctors office and explain your situation. I bet they will have a few suggestions. in the mean time try contacting the drug company for Aubagio. Many companies have programs to help with the cost of their drugs. Don't give up though! You guys found the MS drug that works for your wife and you might think it doesn't matter but it does. There's a way you get that drug without financial distress and you'll find it

I am on Avonex. Have been since 2015. It has been working very well. I received a letter from my insurance stating I needed to switch to basteron (?). I gave the letter to my neurologist. She wrote them a letter and I have been approved for 2 yrs or when/if I change for my Avonex.

Dr must advocate & If Dr doesn’t then the drug company may. Contact the drug company yourself and see if they will cover it for you
