So after origionally thinking i had Optic Neuritis it turns out i had shingles of the eye. Anyone else had this ??
Hi Kaylee! I'm sorry to hear about that. I have heard of Shingles. I turn 50 next year in April and have been encouraged to get the Shingles vaccinations. I have been told you have one injection done and another 2 weeks after first shot.
I had a horrific chicken pox outbreak when I was 8. I had it all over me, in my eyes, down my throat- It was bad. I do not want to be "Hit" by Shingles. With having MS and still slowly recovering my second Lemtrada infusion; Getting Shingles would be devastating.
In one eye only? Of the eye meaning on your eyelid? Said a prayer for you.
Best,
Danny
I always research any med before I take anything. side effects and reviews of other people that took it.
ZOSTAVAX is a live attenuated virus vaccine indicated for the prevention of herpes zoster (shingles) in individuals 50 years of age and older. ZOSTAVAX is not indicated for the treatment of zoster or postherpetic neuralgia. ZOSTAVAX should not be used for the prevention of primary varicella infection (Chickenpox).
@A MyMSTeam Member Please make sure to check with your neurologist to see it’s okay to get the Shingles vaccine since it’s a live virus. Only if a patient of my neurologist who gets shingles is who she would advise to get one because virus is already in their systems.
Adding you to team if that's ok? I'm getting the Shingrix vaccine next year. I had bout of chicken pox that was horrific when I was 8.
I think because of the general debilitation (aging) of our bodies can be a possible unproven reason. As much as I don't like vaccines, I still take them. Being proactive is important.
Make it a good day, Yvette!
Best!
