Members rallied around someone feeling unsocial before a Christmas party with their bible study group, with the overwhelming encouragement being to go and give it a try. Several members shared that they often feel reluctant to socialize but end up glad they went, with a recurring theme being that it's okay to leave early if needed and that letting friends know ahead of time removes guilt. The original poster later shared that they did go and had a wonderful time eating and playing games.

Once you get ready and go you will be glad you went! But if you don’t, just leave early!😊

I agree with Judy . . . if you don't do that often . . I vote for going. And leave if you feel you want to leave but at least give it a try. You can end up smiling and enjoying it. You can always leave early.
Let your friend know you might need to leave at any time but want to try to go. Then you won't feel guilty . . .

I personally don't like socializing, it makes my anxiety act up. But, I have found if I put myself in situations with people I know, it helps my mood and I'm able to become "the old me" if even for just a moment. Sometimes making yourself do things you dont necessarily want to do makes it easier to cope.
