Just curious, but what does a MS hug feel like?

I have only experienced a MS hug one time. For me it was not painful, just very strange. Felt like there was a tight band around my chest/mid-drift and I had profound numbness at the same time. It has been years ago but I think I also had pins and needle tingling with the numbness. It effected my breathing however it may have been the anxiety I started having because along with the hug my R arm became very weak, sort of floppy.....there were other symptoms too, I actually thought I was having a stroke but NO, it was just an MS flare. (Yes, I went to the ER. I was scared! I had never experienced anything like that.) I was sick with a cold and had laryngitis yet I thought I could go to church and "just sit there" during worship. But, just getting showered and dressed was too much for my system. Now I realize that respiratory viruses really effect my MS, causing fatigue and sometimes other symptoms. So, I try to take it easy.

From what I've read and heard from others, like most things MS, it's a little different for each of us. For me, it impacts mostly my torso (although I have felt similar sensations in other areas of my body) and is like wearing a really REALLY tight constrictive sleeve. Like wearing spanx or other shapewear that is many sizes too small. When it happens I can't take deep breaths, and I also experience burning sensations in my muscles, especially in my middle to upper back along my spine and out to my shoulders. Definitely NOT pleasant, and I'm glad it doesn't happen to me as often as if used to! Hope that description helps! XX

Mine is very mild. For years. Maybe once a yr. Now that I’m 68....lol. Not so much.

I have just recently started having these lovely hugs. It is painful, I get a sharp stabbing pain I my lower back and then it spreads to wrap around my abdomen. Fortunately it doesn't seem to last too long but it is painful. I have been getting them about every 3-4 weeks and they are getting worse each time. Talking to my neurologist about them. Good luck
