Sorry if this has been asked. Has anyone or know anyone that has had stemcell therapy? Any advice or results? Thanks
I know someone who ran a high profile media campaign here in Scotland to raise funds for stem cell therapy in another country (possibly Mexico, but I'm not certain) around five years ago. On her return she was photographed smiling and walking down the steps from her plane home and was doing very well for more than a year - walking for the first time in years, found a new boyfriend and became a real ambassador for stem cell therapy - campaigning for the treatment to be funded on the National Health Service here.
Then it all went quiet and I met her in the street about 18 months later, looking very fatigued in her electric wheelchair and accompanied by the full time support worker now provided by social services to help her live as full a life as possible.
She told me that the effect of the stem cell treatment gradually wore off in the months folowing her return to Scotland. She suspects the effect of the stem cells was minimal and that the short-term improvement in her condition was because of a cocktail of potent tonics and booster medication she was given during her "luxury" two-month holiday in sunny conditions while receiving treatment.
Sadly the improvement in her condition has gone and has returned to her previous downward tragectory. The boyfriend too has disappeared, as has the remainder of the money raised for her expensive foreign treatment.
Overall it's a sad tale but I can't say if she was conned by her medics or if her trip was just a little too early in the evolution of a what may yet become something that will offer progress to others who follow her path.
(Meanwhile, I am left wondering why nobody has been getting excited by the tonics she thinks produced the dramatic short-term improvements in her condition!)
Those who have will try and give u a convincing argument for it but the reality is they still have MS and are considerably poorer as a result.
Any benefit gained is a psychosomatic reaction and temporary, unfortunately that's just proven fact.
I have a friend who has had it done, she reported major improvement but over three years-ish it reverted to being the same as it was previous treatment. She is looking at redoing it though

I asked about stem cell treatment of a doctor once. She asked me how the treatment would know what to "fix". I couldn't think of a way and she said neither could doctor's yet
