I’m arguing with some relatives about these commercials.
My take is that the commercials are a waste because MS people don’t talk to their neurologist that often and don’t change their meds unless you hit a new relapse
The counter is that those further along may speak with their neurologists more often or others may speak up more or others where seeing a commercial would motivate action
So basically the question is, are these heavy commercial rotations really worth it? Would they motivate… read more

No! I have only taken one drug for my MS. It was a trial back in 1984, I think. I don't remember what the name was. I took it past the trial, and then somewhere along the line, I stopped. I deal with my symptoms as best I can in natural ways. I know that doesn't work for everyone, but I am 74 and still upright. I'm not in a wheelchair like I was told I would be back in my 30's! I praise God for the ability to overcome or learn to work with what comes my way! I have a chiropractor who has started me on supplements that have pulled me out of the funk from COVID in May 2020. I'm feeling stronger now than before, COVID!
So, back to the question about commercials! No, I don't listen or watch them for any medication. Just my two cents worth!
The only things that will motivate me to change my medication are new lesions or side effects. I take my advice from my neurologist, not a marketer, so the commercials make no difference to my decisions. I'd rather see the companies decrease the price of their medications or invest in research and development instead of spending the cash on marketing.
I think it depends on the person, really. Some may think they're happy with what they have and then a commercial comes on for a new med and it sparks a little lite, gets them thinking, "ya know, my "xyz symptom" has been getting worse, should talk to doc about it. Others are fine and ignore ad. Others as doesn't apply to what's really bothering them. So, as I mentioned, depends on the person.
I have watched. I have been on Ocrevus for 3 yrs. & used to get angry when they showed someone getting out of a wheelchair. The general population thinks that should happen for everyone. I've learned to let it roll of my shoulders. I have discussed different meds. with my neuro. I can't change how MS has affected me-I have a good life!
Hi L'Duck!
I hear your dilemma!
Those who actually get to talk to their doctor, are probably are worried and upset.
They don't have time to watch a crazy commercial.
And I definitely don't like the disclaimers they speak of at the end.
Sure, I want to die from this new drug!!
Are they insane?!?!
I think I'll wait and see just how "wonderful" it is, a few years down the road.
Good to talk with you, Ms Duck. 🌻
