Ditto on the Zanaflex but I also take Dantrolene for spasms as well.

My neurologist has me on a ton of Baclofen. I eat 40mg before bed sleep until I wake up in pain and needing to stretch and then eat another 40.

I have discovered 2 tricks for the MS hug.

1 is an inversion table -- best $120 I ever spent. Spending 30secs to a couple of minutes upside down stretches the ribs and back in such a way that 90%+ of the time it'll give a huge amount of relief that'll last anywhere from 5min to 5hrs.

The other is a breathing thing. I'll first inflate my chest as large as possible and hold it that way, breathing with my diaphragm but keeping my chest big. You can only hold that position for so long. After relaxing with a normal chest for a bit I'll do the big chest thing again.

My thought is that stretches the inte-costal muscles in the ribs. But as may repetitions of that is a distinct relief.

If you try either/both please let me know what you think and if they were helpful.

MS hugs suck so bad. I thought I was having a heart attack when I got it the first time. Breathing exercises can minimize the pain a little. Marijuana is the only thing that has provided any tangible relief for me for hugs because it has a relaxing effect. Oddly enough, my local dispensary is called Hugs! I tried Baclofen which is supposed to help spasticity, but it did nothing for me.
