Members shared many helpful tips for healing the stomach after being on oral steroids, with the most common suggestion being to take probiotics and prebiotics during and after steroid use to restore healthy gut bacteria. Several members recommended soothing foods and drinks like peppermint tea with honey, ginger tea, apple cider vinegar, yogurt, bananas, and the BRAT diet of bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. A recurring theme was the importance of being gentle with your body, avoiding spicy or acidic foods, and checking in with your doctor or pharmacist for extra guidance.

Hi LauraMN , I recommend doing prebiotics and probiotics after and for that matter during using steroids! They will help keep the good bacteria in your stomach to help with digestion. Just a suggestion!

Peppermint tea wuth honey woukd be soorhing. Pepto bismal is Otc and works well ti settle stomachs. Also a bland diet for a day it two might help.

Ginger ☕️ is also a good way to settle tummy issues. Pre and probiotics are good to replace the flora and fauna in your gut that gets distroid on strong meds. Ask your Doctor or pharmacist. May God bless you.

Howdy to state the obvious and you probably already know but try not to take steroids on an empty stomach but anyway now after the fact it's a matter of slowly returning your stomach to normal. Try an limit your intake of spicy or acidic food and eat "safe" boring stuff for a while, the "brat" (bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast) diet is a good start and slowly start to increase food variation. Remember to and when you feel a fraction better to add calcium to your diet, steroids strip it from bones and is a major side effect of steroid use.

The actual only thing thats worked for me is eating a few crackers first before I take them as early in the morning as posible with lots of water. Now I have twice puked it all up but for the most part thats the only thing that has helped. But then again 12 days was the longest I ever took oral steroids. Highest dose was 80mgs then weaned down from there...3 weeks at 60mgs...?? Have you even talked to you Dr since getting on them??
Best to you sweetie...steroids are hard on our bodys n worse on our guts taking them orally. Praying for you...
Love n Hugs
