Hello i might be one of the lucky ones if it's Lucky to have this. I went out on short term disability thru work. Was out 6 months during the time my Drs told me to file for state disability. Filled out paperwork answered phone calls(questions) and got approved just as my short term disability ended. No lawyers just paperwork and questions. Maybe since i was out so long on short term disability in it helped not sure. Good luck start your paperwork and get Drs involved.

Hi, First thing...don't get discouraged if you're denied. Most people get denied the first application. I was doing the process myself...denied a second time. I hired a lawyer who specialized in MS. I was accepted and started receiving benefits in Nov., 1999. The lawyer receives a percentage from the benefits after being accepted.

If you live in California Social security will denies you three time before you can get a lawyer. I heard something about social security policies are being reviewed. That something that you should look into.
