I m not old enough to draw social security, anyone drawing disability with MS? Did you have to hire a Lawer? Any suggestions on how to go about getting disability? Any suggestions on what Lawer?
Hello i might be one of the lucky ones if it's Lucky to have this. I went out on short term disability thru work. Was out 6 months during the time my Drs told me to file for state disability. Filled out paperwork answered phone calls(questions) and got approved just as my short term disability ended. No lawyers just paperwork and questions. Maybe since i was out so long on short term disability in it helped not sure. Good luck start your paperwork and get Drs involved.
Hi, First thing...don't get discouraged if you're denied. Most people get denied the first application. I was doing the process myself...denied a second time. I hired a lawyer who specialized in MS. I was accepted and started receiving benefits in Nov., 1999. The lawyer receives a percentage from the benefits after being accepted.
Where I live I had to go through the European Ambassy In Ireland. They came ba k to me saying that I need a 2nd opinion asking if I really have MS. So that I did. Then it was approved
Good luck
If you live in California Social security will denies you three time before you can get a lawyer. I heard something about social security policies are being reviewed. That something that you should look into.
Ive been on disability for seven years. It took over a year to get it and go through the process. They did backpay me since the date i filled. I didnt need a lawyer just information from my neurologist.
