Get the dog. I put my English Mastiff down a year ago. He was there when I fell. He was my best buddy ever. Always there for me. I finally got another. I hired a trainer to help train him. Was the best thing I ever did. He's no Bear but Bomber is filling his shoes.

Danny - you will know the right answer, but must ask yourself, would you be getting another dog to replace the irreplaceable, or for your family and the dog because you want and need one?
Care is something you would adapt to, as you have had to for yourself.

Pets love you unconditionally. You have people to assist with the care of the animals…a healthy pet brings you better health, IMHO.

My husband & I had to say goodbye to our older Husky, Maho a few weeks ago. Our younger Husky girl knew instantly when we came home without him. Zora is only 8 years old and she is grieving along with us. We have two cats that live with my pup, I have always trained my Huskies that the cat’s are family, just like the kids. Having only one dog, my sweet girl Zora is sad, and lonesome. Personally, I think that with a little help, I can get another young Husky. Just want to find one that is a male, laidback, easy to train & not get upset when a cat walks by.

I WOULD NEGOTIATE THE PUPPY FOR AN MIDDLE AGED DOG. Seriously have a 10 month old puppy and two other older dogs and it’s too much. Even if I didn’t have the older dogs…a puppy is too much constant watching and care. Cute-but not the best idea! We have had a lot of chewing issues-furniture and shoes! And he requires ALOT OF EXERCISE.
