Hi, I live in the UK, so get my Fingolimod (Gilenya) for free from the NHS. Have been on Gilenya for 5 years now (after 2 yrs on Tysabri) - no new lesions!
Got a letter recently from MS nurse saying they were switching to a cheaper ‘generic’ Fingolimod in the near future as the patent had expired on the Gilenya branded pill.
Apparently, it costa the NHS about £1,500 per box of 28, so I can understand their thinking.
In theory, it should be the same, time will tell…

Try to get a grant if you need help w/med payments. They go fast but if you pay under $100 for generic & it works - that's probably the best bet. (FYI: Costco has the cheapest medicine prices & you don't need a "membership"! Just tell them you're going to the pharmacy. Kinda doubt they have MS meds, but good info for other meds)
I was on Tecfidera, that's now "generic" so I have to pay $76 thru Humana. I figured that's not bad...considering. But the prices for MS meds are LUDICROUS. It's absurd! I doubt they want a cure...when Billions are at stake in their lives. Best of luck in getting a good price!

I took Gilenya for a few years after four years on Tysabri. My in insurance changed my script to fingomold. It has been a couple years and no relapses.

I used Gilenya for a couple of years. Unfortunately I then had new symptoms and new lesions. I also had a problem with one eye which has gone now I don’t use it.
I was trying to understand your insurance question could you explain it a bit more. What type of insurance are you trying to take out?
