I've just been trying to add more fruits and vegetables into my diet and limit sugars and processed foods.
I have the book and have tried to incorporate several times over the years. Yes, I do think diet and exercise play a huge role in slowing the progression of this disease, simply because they are removing a large part of constant inflammation from our life. Im personally not as big of a fan of Terry Wahls. Over the last few years, she has really moved all of her information to "pay only". She even shut down the facebook pages that people were swapping information, recipes, and advice on, because she saw a way to offer one-on-one zoom calls, for $$$. I follow Matthew Embry. All his information is free on his site, MSHope, and he has a really informative documentary on Amazon Prime. He'll even mail you a reqlly nice, hard cover cookbook for the price of shipping.
I have the book just haven't read it yet. and I have been doing a low carb diet for a month
I’m more of a proponent of the swank diet, of which dr wahl’s is doing studies to try to prove that her diet is as good. Personally, I find dr wahls to be a bit of a “snake oil salesman” because she is certainly working awfully hard to profit as much as possible off of her diet and related supplements (I made the mistake of subscribing to her newsletter and it just sells me stuff on a regular basis). I tried her diet and hated it…and found it confusing to figure out exactly what she does because her “original diet” which supposedly got her out of the wheelchair (which, let’s be clear, she did drug regimens as well) is not the diet she follows today (she follows a different version of her diet). Swank was done a million years ago and just quietly chugs along without trying to sell much of anything. Anytime I have strictly done swank (in conjunction with DMT) I have been exacerbation free. It’s restrictive…but healthy. Kind of a lower fat version of the Mediterranean diet.
Sorry to say but Terry Walhs shot herself in the foot when she claimed her "diet" cured her MS. Later investigation shows the "paleo" diet is pretty much the same thing, it doesn't cure anything, especially MS but it is a good basic food pyramid plan that focuses on healthy-healthier eating, so if you are trying to follow it, that's a one-up for you. Terry Walhs was later asked if she stood by her claim and she backed down. ADA (dietary) states while a good food plan, the diet itself will not and cannot "cure" anything.
