If you haven't already done so, I would suggest you register to access your online Medicare account so you can review the various Medicare plans available to you and select and sign up for a plan. The website also provides a lot of information about Medicare. This year I became eligible for Medicare so about three months before my 65th birthday, I registered for my only Medicare account and then selected my plan from numerous options based on my coverage requirements. My coverage became effective the date I turned 65. Then next year Medicare will announce the annual enrollment period where I can select another plan and so forth. I chose a Medicare Advantage PPO Plan that covers all my medical (hospital visits, tests, labs, x-ray/mri/ct et al.); doctor visits; Rx's; and even includes basic dental and vision coverage. I authorized Social Security to automatically deduct the monthly premium for Medicare Part B from my monthly social security direct deposit. You can also call Medicare toll free and talk to a customer service member who can answer your questions and enroll you in a plan if you wish. I also found out that this year Medicare automatically mails out your traditional Medicare card several weeks before you turn 65 so it is my understanding that one does not have to call or go to social security to enroll in and get a traditional Medicare card. When you have the Medicare card account number you just go into your account and choose your plan or call Medicare to enroll in the plan you want. I hope you find this information helpful. Best of luck to you. Take care.

Hi there
I've been on Medicare / Medicaid for the last several years and you don't really have to do much; I think the main thing that you first have to do is choose a sub-plan, whether it's AARP or one of the other many plans available under Medicare. There are usually people at the 1-800 number for Medicare who can help you decide which plan is best for you.
Many counties employ a senior ombudsman who can help you navigate the maze.
Iโm on Medicare parts A B and N. Also D through aarp. Depending on your medication needs is what should determine which supplements you will require.
Thank you so much! I am an AARP member ๐
