Just reading a line of questions this morning on artificial sweeteners and/or plant-based sweeteners like Stevia and Monkfruit and was surprised that, that's what everyone is using, so is sugar contraindicated?

I've cut out sugar and gluten. It helps lessen the brain fog. I use honey, pure maple syrup, and molasses to sweeten things in cooking. I use about 1 TBS of maple syrup in my daily coffee intake. I've noticed a huge difference since cutting out processed sugar.

Well for me...sugar inflames everything to include weight gain. And sometimes it would cause diarhea or make me super dopey. I re trained my brain and stopped eating foods with sugars in it. The artificial sugars always gave me headaches.

Eat in Moderation. Just try to check your labels when it comes to sugar intake. Keto is always low in sugar.

YES! It's general advice from many for people with MS to avoid sugar.

In one other book I read -- not about MS, more on brain health in general -- the doctor bluntly summed it up as "sugar is poison to the brain."

It's odd, because the body requires the sugar glucose as diabetics know too well. Our bodies will actually manufacture glucose (if they can) if we run out of glucose. But the lactose (milk sugar), fructose (from fruit), and all the other *ose sugars our bodies *do not* need -- we just burn them up as energy if we need energy or we convert them to fat. ๐Ÿ™„

And FWIW, even sugar substitutes (fake sugars) aren't good for us because they can provoke the body to do bad things just like real sugar does.
