Hi Tammy, from being in the MS researcher world, I would say more than likely there is not a food supplement to rebuild or improve damage. Reason I say this as people have been trying for decades to improve MS with diet and have only seen mild improvements, with different diets like the Swank or many others out there. I have a friend who studies the microbes in the gut and is trying to manipulate the microbiome to improve the disease. There are many issues with hoping that MS can be improved by diet alone: 1) The basic underlying cause of myelin damage is inflammation in the immune system (the body is attacking itself for an unknown reason). This is the premise for all of the MS drugs on the market today for MS, to try to slow down or prevent damage. 2) Repairing myelin is complex. It consists of different fats, proteins, cholesterol, and other things. All of these things get broken down in the stomach before the components are absorbed into the blood stream and taken up by cells and manufactured into myelin sheaths. Remylination does occur naturally but in MS (especially in humans) it is very inefficient. Oligodendrocytes which produce myelin aren't activated sometimes in the areas of demylination (the environment might be suppressing them) or there is damage to the substrate (the nerves) that prevents them from carrying out the myelin repair. This is a very active field for the last 2 decades on how to promote remylination and was the area of research I was in. There is hope but nothing as of yet available to promote remylination.
@A MyMSTeam Member, I agree with you on this.
Juice Plus! It gives you your daily requirements of fruit and vegetables. Its not meant to be a replacement, just supplemental. Its pure dehydrated fruit and veggies…no additives.
LOL, just lived a very eventful life @A MyMSTeam Member
