I was placed on gabapentin and took myself off it when gaining weight quickly with no change in diet/activity level. I know it’s a popular prescribed drug. How have others reacted to this medication?
I must admit, it's hard to lose weight the older I get. 🥴🥴🤪
@A MyMSTeam Member - Gabapentin itself does not cause weight gain. The problem is, it makes you hungry.
I don't know if it's Gabapentin or the fact that I eat too much. I think I love food and it shows. in a bad way. 😞🥴
@A MyMSTeam Member, I took Gabapentin for awhile and it worked but then I started having pain and swelling in my joints so had to stop it.
I too it for an extended time and did not have any real weight gain. Since being diagnosed I have always fluctuated 5 or 10 pounds. this cycle continues even after stopping gabapentin. There is a very similar medicine called Lyrica. I just started taking it 14 days ago. No negatives noticed so far. My feet still feel like several fire ants stinging them, especially when I get out of bed and later in the day. It may be a tad less in that sensation, but It needs to help the pain more before I will call it worthy of my consuming it. :-)
