I was diagnosed with MS in February 1974. My first MRI that identified brain lesions was in the early 1980s. I was diagnosed with MS after analyzing my spinal fluid. Brain lesions can be present after damage from a flare-up.
Thanks for everyone's response. I got my mri scan report back yesterday on my NHS app. It's says I have a few lesions but doesn't give a number. Says they are typical on demyelination. January I see the neurology team for an in depth explanation. Also my spine especially cervical spine has degeneration. Thanks again guys.
Hi Maria, unfortunately I’m not sure, I don’t think we are supposed to have any but as we know they are a tell tale sign of MS . Unfortunately I have over 50 think they’ve stopped counting !! They just check regularly for any activity with them.
Hi Maria375
Can you access your medical notes online, like they do in the US? Sounds like a bonus to me .... Good luck 😊
2 or more in order to diagnose. Some states are different. A spinal tap is often done to confirm but is not required in many states. But doctors usually run tests to rule out other things. There are 26 other conditions that look like MS on the MRI. A good Neurologist will put all this information together with your symptoms and history to make a diagnosis.
Best wishes to you 🌸🌸
