Has anyone done the Wahls protocol? If so, what was your experience with it.

I did a very early version of the Wahls diet for just over a year. It was pretty difficult for me to stick to it, but stick to it I did. My impressions.

The amount of greens that you had to eat was insane -- but insane in a good way. You'll lose weight or have no problems with weight if you this (or most any MS-specific) diet.

My biggest lasting impression was what it did to my vision. I was in my 50s when I did the diet and I needed reading glasses and my distance vision was off a little -- so I used bifocals.

But 6 or 8 months into the diet I had a routine optometry appt. The doctor told me I no longer needed bifocals because my distance vision had improved to be *better* than 20/20. He was surprised and when talking about it, he chalked it up to eating all those greens. Greens, he said, do magical things for our eyes that science doesn't fully understand.

So I'd say yes Jess, give the diet a try. Dr. Wahls has tweaked the diet since the version I went on but I'm convinced there are distinct ties between some MS symptoms and diet.

Dr. Wahls emphasizes that this protocol is more than just a diet; it's a comprehensive lifestyle change. Clinical trials have shown that approximately 80% of participants with secondary and primary progressive MS experienced a significant reduction in fatigue and improved quality of life, with half showing improvement in walking.
