I have low bone density. I was diagnosed with osteopenia before menopause, in my late 40s. Now at age 62 it was changed to osteoporosis. I have thyroid disease. I've been on thyroid medication for 30 years. I've found out that that can affect bone density too. Steroid use can also. When I was treated for the osteoporosis the medication tore my stomach up.
I have osteoporosis fractured my spine a couple of years ago hard to deal with it still bothers me quit a bit.
I too have osteoporosis. I was on generic Fosamax for two years. Recent bone density scan determined that did not help. Wants me to go on Prolia. I have heard too many horror stories about side effects of Prolia. so I declined. Don’t know what to do. I don’t need any additional side effects along with my MS.
Sound familiar.. MS, first osteopinia and now osteoporosis, also thyroid here and history of heart and thyroid...couldnt take the meds for bones..calcium and VIT D are really important for all conditions.. doc can check on D. i went with Prolivia a new every 6 month shot. it even helps rebuild bone. i have to go to a center for it but WOW worth it. Hope you have success...
Regarding osteoporosis, initially I was diagnosed with osteopenia, but 3 years ago my bone density test showed osteoporosis. I also have hypothyroidism dx in 1993.
I was also diagnosed with with osteoporosis yrs ago with a bone density scan. I also have a thyroid disorder. It's the meds. Dammed of you do. Dammed of you don't. There's no happy medium
