Members opened up about navigating the emotional landscape of a newly diagnosed MS journey during Mental Health Awareness Month, sharing the importance of surrounding yourself with supportive people, eliminating stress and negativity, and being patient with yourself as you adjust to a new normal. Many members emphasized practical strategies such as starting a disease-modifying therapy as soon as possible, finding a good neurologist who specializes in MS, working with a therapist or counselor, keeping a symptom diary, joining support groups both online and in-person, and exploring stress-reduction techniques like mindfulness, meditation, and exercise. A recurring theme was the power of acceptance and positivity, with countless members who have lived with MS for decades sharing that while the diagnosis can feel overwhelming at first, life is still good, you are not alone, and MS does not have to define who you are or stop you from living a meaningful life.

Do your best to be your bes, take the win when your symptoms are mild. Don't allow the diagnosis to bring you down. I've lived with it for 25 yrs aquatics therapy helped and eating the right foods. I did my own research, used a cane for 17 years. My mobility improved, no cane.

Self care is paramount. Give yourself grace in the toughest moments. Create a supportive circle of family and friends. Be thankful for blessings no matter how small...blessings are always in our lives if we look for them!
