One doctor came back with a potential NMO diagnosis. She thinks the lesion I had in Dec 2023 has nothing to do with MS (it healed fine) and the current lesions are like 50/50 some typical some atypical of MS. I was tested for antibodies but negative, she is not convinced and over the fence.
Thank you @A MyMSTeam Member. Yes, MS seems the lesser of two evils to some extent. Even though NMO can relapse only a few times in life she said the attacks are much worse. She is not specialised in this pathology but MS, and said that here in Chile only a few cases. As I am visiting my relatives in Brazil next week she suggested that I should find a specialist there as there is higher occurrence in that country. We will see. Anyway, MS or NMO the treatment is similar: rituximab. Good news is that I am stable and I can wait 1-2 months to start a proper treatment. Whatever it is....
@A MyMSTeam Member yes, I think it will come in handy a second opinion. Thanks!
See if you can get a 2nd opinion
Awesome!!! You have a great plan. ๐
In 2010 when going thru nerve conduction testing, spinal tap (positive for bands) and 3 MRIs, my doctor thought I had NMO (also called Devick's Disease.) She did a gene test on me that was negative. That didnt stop me from worrying for the next 5 years. It is odd to wish for RRMS or PPMS when faced with NMO. Please let us know how its going. Sending healing energy your way ๐
