I've never had a spinal tap. My neurologist, an MS specialist, told me she could tell by looking at my MRIs. I know this will sound strange but if I ever have to change doctors and they say I have to have one for a sure diagnosis, I'll refuse. I'm 70 and I'm not taking any DMT and haven't for a year. I will continue to get my yearly MRI, which hasn't changed since 2018.
I didn't have a Spinal Tab. I had an Evoke Potential to confirm My MS DX
I was first diagnosed having MS in 1987 from an MRI.
Short answer is yes, if you meet the McDonald criteria.
