JC virus testing is for what drugs you might be on and if you risk PML. They might have done other tests to rule out something else but unless you know the test and ask what it is for, noone here will be able to help. Think the fact they were testing for JC virus confirms MS and they want to make sure your put on the right DMT

I just has a MRI of the brain and it showed clear lesions. Then they did blood work for JC virus and other things just to make sure it wasn't something else.

To diagnose multiple sclerosis (MS), doctors use a combination of tests and evaluations. Here are some key methods:

- Medical History and Neurological Examination: Doctors take a thorough history and perform a neurological exam to assess symptoms, reflexes, coordination, and sensation.
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): MRI is a valuable tool that uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to detect lesions in the brain and spinal cord.
- Blood Tests: These help rule out other conditions with similar symptoms, such as vitamin B12 deficiency or infections.
- Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Tap): This test examines cerebrospinal fluid for abnormalities associated with MS.

Each of these tests contributes to a comprehensive evaluation to accurately diagnose MS.
