Fell down trying to sit on a bench at the 4th of July celebration this year, and couldn't get up. Some young guy picked me off the ground and I was highly embarrassed, but realize there is nothing I can do about it but move on and be more careful.

It's understandable to feel embarrassed after a fall, but remember, you're not alone. Many people with multiple sclerosis (MS) experience similar situations. Here are some steps to consider:

1. Stay Calm: Take a moment to gather yourself and assess if you're injured.
2. Ask for Help: If needed, ask someone nearby for assistance in getting up.
3. Use Mobility Aids: If you use a walker or cane, ensure it's with you to help prevent future falls.
4. Reflect and Adjust: Consider what caused the fall and if there are ways to avoid it in the future, like avoiding loose rugs or slippery floors.

Remember, it's okay to ask for help and take precautions to stay safe.
