I’m a veterinarian technician for 24 years now and since being diagnosed in October everyone has been telling me try to not get stressed out so much , but the place I work that is kind of hard at times, I have been having more flare ups in the last month it mostly happens at work. I don’t know what to do. I love what I do but I can’t keep up with the fast pace and the stress.

@A MyMSTeam Member, from the sound of it you love what you do. It doesn't sound as if MS is totally impending your work either, It does sound like working short breaks into your day might be good to avoid the MS symptoms you're feeling at work now. I know I would just sit and stare at the wall for like 5 minutes and this would recharge me but what you will do will be totally different. The hardest part for me was stopping several times a day but when I did, it made my time at work so much more effective. To me, not all stress is bad. That stress when you know you've just missed a deadline is bad stress but the stress when you have a ton of things in process was never bad stress to me it was more a rush. It sounds more like you need to get more in tune of when your body is saying take 5 and actually taking 5. It took me some time to realize what my body was saying and even longer to figure out what I needed to do about it. I think you should keep doing what you're doing while making modifications to how you do things to avoid MS symptoms.

I was an attorney and I had to develop a spiritual program. Meditation, prayer, yoga, mental therapist, practice faith not worry, massages, exercise, all of it.

I was dx 1997 and was forced into retirement in 2022 bc my body couldn’t take it anymore.

My point is all jobs have stress. I had to learn coping techniques. If not, my career would have been a lot shorter.

You’re going to have to find your path. Please remember your health comes first.

I had to set up boundaries at work. Just taking time for myself and not putting in the OT I use to. I gave myself permission to say No and be ok with knowing that I can only give so much. Sending hugs and positive vibes your way ❤️

Have a glass of red wine and take an anti anxiety pill! It works every time!
