Yes, multiple sclerosis (MS) can cause fluctuations in body temperature due to its impact on the central nervous system. Lesions in areas like the hypothalamus, which regulates body temperature, can make it harder for your body to maintain a stable temperature. Sensitivity to both heat and cold is common in MS, and these changes can worsen symptoms. If this is affecting your quality of life, consult your healthcare provider for management strategies.

I use cold flannels on my face and feet when they are burning and heat pads and a heated throw when I feel freezing. I also use biofreeze for burning and 1% menthol creams. I have acupuncture which has helped my feet and gives me a little more energy. I am practising guided meditation to try to distract myself from focusing on the pain. I take gabapenten and duloxetine and have just been prescribed medical cannabis - final desperate attempt to find a happy medium. Hope you find something that works for you. 🤗

Hello Cheri, I experience hot/cold fluctuations day and night. I swing between burning and freezing. Are you feeling the same?
