Transition for me from MSRR to SPMS occurred slowly with flares reducing and stopping but symptoms stayed and became more permanent.

The main difference is how these types of MS begin and progress. SPMS (Secondary Progressive MS) only develops in people who previously had RRMS (Relapsing-Remitting MS). It represents a phase where symptoms gradually worsen over time, leading to increased disability. In contrast, PPMS (Primary Progressive MS) is progressive from the very beginning. People with PPMS never experience periods of remission - their symptoms continue to worsen from the start without the relapsing-remitting pattern that precedes SPMS.
