Sugar causes inflammation. Period. That's why I use monksfruit mostly. A little sugar is fine, and natural sugars in fruit. Processed foods also cause inflammation for MS.

I don't avoid any foods unless it's something my husband can't eat or shouldn't eat. My doctor tells me to just eat as healthy as possible.

Research suggests that certain foods may trigger inflammation and MS symptoms. Here are the main foods to consider avoiding:

• Saturated fats from animal products (bacon, butter, full-fat dairy, chicken skin)
• Red meat
• Refined carbohydrates and sugary foods/drinks
• Foods high in salt
• Trans fats and hydrogenated oils (found in some margarines and processed foods) Some people with MS may need to avoid dairy products specifically. Studies show cow's milk may increase risk of MS progression. Consider replacing dairy with alternatives like:

• Coconut milk
• Almond milk
• Healthy fats like avocados
• Coconut oil
• Ghee (clarified butter)

Keep in mind that food sensitivities can vary between individuals. What triggers symptoms in one person may not affect another. Working with a registered dietitian can help identify your specific dietary triggers.
