Taress... Absolutely it is fun to learn but takes a long time to become proficient. Get a deaf teacher for classes but join social groups to learn more. Will your family and friends also learn sign language....who will you communicate with? The cochlear implants is being done my hearing people so they can use phone and communicate.

I am severe hearing loss since age 14. I have worn 2 hearing aids ever since. I already knew sign language as we had deaf families in our area. I went to college and taught Deaf and HOH Hard of Hearing kids for 30 years.

I don't needsign language personally except when I taught. If you have a progressive disability and cannot benefit from hearing aids possibly but Cochlear Implants is better choice.

I already learned in 2017-2018, had to discontinue it because my mom's health started to change. I still know a good portion of ASL though, I practice it at least twice a week.

KateSmith. It is hard to find professionals that do the procedures. Some PTs have been trained. Does not have to be a doctor. That proceedure does help alot. Itell people I got my ear chrystall adjusted. I sparkle.

Wednesday...Me too. Finding right words is hard. The deaf community is very helpful and supportive. You have a good approach to learning. We are lifelong learners. On Facebook I see lots of videoes about sign language. I enjoy watching (with mute) very good to keep up my skills.
