I worked for 2 podiatrist for 10 yrs when I was diagnosed with MS,they suggested a High top tennis shoe with a ankle brace which help a great deal! If this is the route you choose I suggest that you take your brace with you the brace will fit differently in your shoes. It's vitally import that your shoes will fit differently.
If you want to see an podiatrist they will most likely take a weight barring x-ray it gives a better angle of the bottom of your foot.
Also they often have shoes and braces there.
Best of luck!

• Wide, stable base for better balance
• Good arch support
• Non-slip soles
• Proper fit with room for orthotics if needed
• Easy to put on/take off
• Lightweight design to reduce fatigue

Consider working with a physical therapist who can analyze your gait and make specific recommendations for your needs. For additional stability while walking, you might want to consider using supportive braces or orthotics inside your shoes. An ankle-foot orthotic (AFO) can be particularly helpful if you experience foot drop. Remember that the right combination of proper footwear and supportive devices can significantly reduce your risk of falls.
