i get the three areas because my lesions are in all three areas. If you can get your doctor to order all three together your insurance should count it as One MRI. But in the beginning i got 3 a year, then 2 and now as I'm more stable 1 a year of all three areas. (Brain, thoracic, and upper spine) The first year is more important because they are making sure your medication is working. though it normally takes at least three months to see if it's working or not.

I had 3 when I was first diagnosed, now I have one yearly. After my last visit with my neurologist she said it could be every 2 years

Monthly MRIs are not typical for most people with MS. The frequency of MRI scans varies based on individual circumstances, but they are usually scheduled every 6 months to track disease progression and treatment effectiveness.

If you're newly diagnosed or your healthcare team is monitoring specific changes, they may request more frequent scans initially. This helps establish a baseline and track any early changes in your condition. Here's a helpful tip: Take control of your MRI scheduling by:
• Setting calendar reminders 2 weeks before your scheduled scan
• Keeping a record of when each scan is completed
• Following up with your healthcare team if orders aren't placed on time
• Making sure all ordered scans are completed as prescribed

Remember to discuss the frequency of your MRIs with your neurologist, as they will adjust the schedule based on your specific needs and disease activity.

MRIs are needed for 3 areas of spine and Brain perhaps they are doing them gradually? But contrast dye is also needed and some do that separately.
