I slept alot in tge early days of my MS. I wouldn't say it made me sad. I actually felt better after a nap. I was able to get up and do the things I needed to do. A word of advice, you may want to consider asking your Dr for a multi vitamin to help boost your energy. If that works then start an exercise regiment, if possible. Hope this helps. Blessings to you.

Is MS-related sleepiness and fatigue affecting your mood and daily life?
You're absolutely not alone in feeling sad about how MS causes sleepiness and fatigue. It's one of the most common and frustrating symptoms, affecting over 80% of people with MS. Many MyMSTeam members share similar feelings about the exhaustion.
MS fatigue is different from normal tiredness. It persists even after good sleep, can come on suddenly, and often interferes with work, relationships, and daily activities. Members describe it as "bone-crushing" and say their "brain and body just stop working."
The emotional toll is real too. MS fatigue is linked to depression, which affects almost half of people with MS. The invisible nature of this symptom makes it hard for others to understand, which can feel isolating.
There are ways to manage both the fatigue and sleep issues:
- Talk to your neurologist about medications like modafinil or amantadine
- Practice good sleep hygiene and address any sleep disorders
- Try regular, gentle exercise (even though it seems counterintuitive)
- Use energy-conserving techniques throughout your day
- Keep a sleep journal to identify patterns
Many members find that addressing sleep disturbances specifically helps reduce daytime fatigue. It's worth discussing with your doctor whether an undiagnosed sleep disorder might be contributing to your exhaustion.
