MikeHill2 , Yes its like cement shoes 24/7 . If you have access to a pool that does help. Check your local YMCA to see if they have an MS swimming class. I hope and Pray you feel better soon , and I know and feel your pain .🧡😀

Yes, many people with MS experience legs that feel extremely heavy like cement. This is a very common symptom that makes it hard to move and walk.

A MyMSTeam member described their legs as feeling like "cement or prisoner balls and Jell-O." Another said, "My left leg feels like I'm wearing a concrete shoe." You're definitely not alone in experiencing this frustrating symptom.

This heaviness can happen for several reasons:

- Nerve damage: MS damages the protective coating around nerves and the nerves themselves, which can affect the signals controlling your legs
- Fatigue: About 80% of people with MS experience fatigue, which often contributes to leg heaviness
- Lack of muscle use: When muscles aren't used regularly, they can begin to shrink (atrophy)

The cement-like feeling can be triggered by heat, stress, overexertion, or during MS relapses. One member noted, "When I get too stressed, my legs start to feel like cement blocks." Another shared, "Midwest humid summer days promote heavy MS legs for me."

If this symptom is significantly affecting your daily activities, talk with your neurologist. They may recommend physical therapy, medications, or assistive devices to help manage the heaviness and improve mobility.

Yes I have. I'm taking a medication called Ampyra. I can't say I noticed it's helping yet, I've only been taking for a month

Hi @A MyMSTeam Member
Yes, not all of the time, but I do get "heavy legs". Usually accompanied with shuffling too. I just try to rest them and it seems to go away. Good luck Mike.
